To introduce the development of the future Pokfield Campus, three town hall meetings had been held on 4 November, 18 November, and 18 December 2022 for student representatives from University Sports Teams, student halls and colleges, faculties, student societies, staff, and residents. Those meetings were attended by over 100 HKU members and residents.
During those meetings, Professor Richard Wong, Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, described the overall vision of the Pokfield Campus development and the University’s aim of creating a contemporary academic-residential-culture and sports complex, as being key components of HKU’s future growth.
Professor Samson Tse, Dean of Student Affairs, and Dr Michael Tse, Director of the Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE) also outlined the interim arrangements of offering on- and off-campus alternative venues from early January 2023 after the closure of the Flora Ho Sports Centre (FHSC).
Meanwhile, Ms Bella Fan, Assistant Director of Estates explained that HKU is dedicated to the development of Pokfield Campus that improves the accessibility between MTR Kennedy Town Station and Pokfulam Road, enabling residents to travel uphill and downhill with greater ease. Participants offered valuable inputs and suggestions about the development of the new campus.
The new sports complex at the Pokfield Campus that will come into service in 2025 demonstrates the University’s commitment to providing upgraded sports facilities with the most benefit to the HKU community. Further details about the interim sports facilities will be shared with all stakeholders via CSE.
